Websites that may merit a low landing page quality score

Clarification as to what kinds of things will give you a low Adwords Quality Score has recently been posted on the Adwords blog.

From the Inside Adwords blog, here are some types of web sites that will likely see low landing page quality scores:

  • Data collection sites that offer free gifts, subscription services etc., in order to collect private information
  • Arbitrage sites that are designed for the sole purpose of showing ads
  • Malware sites that knowingly or unknowingly install software on a visitor's computer

In addition to those, Google says that the following types of websites are likely to get a low quality score "and may be difficult to advertise affordably"

  • eBook sites that show frequent ads
  • 'Get rich quick' sites
  • Comparison shopping sites
  • Travel aggregators
  • Affiliates that don't comply with our affiliate guidelines

I think it's common sense folks. Google is going to give you a low quality score if your landing page gives the visitor a user experience that conflicts with the type of user experience that Google wants to offer it's visitors.

If you don't know what kind of user experience Google aims to provide to it's visitors, then you haven't been paying attention & need to do some reading.

The types of sites listed in the bullet points above do not provide visitors with what they're looking for. Give visitors what they're looking for & not only what you want to give to them, and you'll do quite well.

So, think about the visitor man!! Think about what the visitor wants. Make the visitor happy!Smiley
